Last Stand

My new home-made light box has proved its worth! I now have more room to work and to do larger prints.

The scene is based on a photograph I took on a car trip around the Hartley Valley in the Blue Mountains, Australia. It was quite a dull day so there weren't too many shadows around. What caught my eye was the reflection of the tree in the water, the bend in the stream and the high contrast between the water and the farmland.

Here's a video of some of the process of preparing the acetate plate. I've cut out a lot of fiddling but hopefully it gives a good idea of what was involved.

"Last Stand #2' started out with the 'ghost' of #1. I still had to add a significant amount of ink to re-establish the darks. I worked a lot more freely, second time around.
