Here's a time-lapse video of my process in making this dark field (pardon the pun!) monotype. I walked along this road on holiday a couple of years ago but it's taken me until now to bet something down on paper.
I used some 20 year old etching ink instead of my usual soy-based variety. Surprisingly, once I got to it under the skin that had formed on top, it was ready to go! Working with oil-based ink presents different challenges. As you can see from the video, I had a little problem with the paper sticking to the plate. Overall, I'm pleased with the image and the process definitely calls for further experimentation.
